Vincent Van Gogh was born on March 30th, 1853 in Groot Zundert, Holland.  He had an early interest in paintings when his mother bought some paints to mess around with in his home, (Taught himself how to paint)later on he really started to think about it as a career. At age 16 Vincent got a job at the Hague Gallery, and his painting career blasted off. Besides himself, he got a lot of inspiration from Jean Franqois Millet which lead him to make other great popular artists friends like Paul Gauguin, Camille Pissarro, and Claude Monet. With so much influence he started to paint and as a result ended up painting “The Potato Eaters” which was his 1st major art piece in 1885. Other famous paintings include The Starry Night, and Sunflowers Irises became very famous in Europe for everyone to know his name. He used Post Impressionism which used lots of light colors and what is an interesting fact is in “The Starry Night”, he started to draw very unclear wavy lines from his mental illness. Which later lead to him cutting off his ear and offering it to a prostitute as a gift, and lead to him shooting himself on July 25, 1880 and dying 2 days later from the wound.
