The Aesthetic movement really concentrated on arguing that art was not supposed to be utilitarian or useful in any way at all. “Art should exist solely for its own purpose” Aesthetic movement carried the appreciation for Eastern design ideas to new better things and really set the stage for the Arts and Crafts era (early 1990’s) afterward of this movement. Also really focused on its arts with strong, simple colors bright blues, greens, and lots yellows. The art pieces that really showed the movement where paintings like sunflowers because of the focus of yellow in the pictures made it oh so very popular. Starting in Britain, even though was made up in Europe really actually drew greatly from Japanese elements. But, what the people really did focus on was that the art should provide “refined sensuous pleasure” in the art everyone produced. Lastly, which meant that art didn’t need to have didactic purpose, only needed to be beautiful.  |
